• Quickly and seamlessly integrate into Gunsnation’s in-house team to assist with the development and testing of the web firearms portal. This involved building the front-end and back-end for it, and tuning real-time data aggregation from multiple vendors to provide accurate product pricing and availability;
• Ensure a seamless user experience across multiple devices and browsers using Strapi CMS. Gunsnation’s platform needed to support complex functionalities like real-time price comparisons, product searches, and reviews while maintaining a smooth and intuitive user interface;
• Developing the search and comparison tools was critical. We needed to create a powerful and flexible search engine that allowed users to filter products based on multiple criteria such as brand, type, caliber, and price range. Additionally, the product comparison tool should display accurate information from multiple sources to ensure users can make informed purchasing decisions;
• Seamlessly integrate multiple online firearm vendors into the portal to aggregate real-time pricing and product information. Ensuring the accuracy and speed of this aggregation process was crucial, as any delay or error in the pricing data could negatively affect the user experience;

Project architecture. At the start of the project, our focus was on implementing the client’s firearms web design concept to create a user-centric experience. After gathering the client’s requirements, our senior front-end engineer, working together with the client’s UI/UX designer, began creating layouts that focused on intuitive navigation and functionality.

Then, our experienced full-stack engineer created the backend for the system using the Strapi CMS, paying special attention to the platform’s performance and stability. Strapi, as a super content management platform, offered a perfect solution for this project due to its combination of ready-made features and flexibility.

Firstly, Strapi’s built-in admin panel allowed us to quickly get up and running without the need to develop one from scratch, saving valuable time. Secondly, all routine tasks were already pre-written in the system, streamlining the development process and eliminating the need for repetitive manual coding. Additionally, Strapi’s flexible and visual management of permissions provided an added boost in security, ensuring that sensitive data was protected across the platform.

The ability to manage content and deliver it seamlessly across multiple devices further improved the user experience, ensuring that the platform worked smoothly across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.

During this firearms portal development, we used the following tools:

• React and Next.js – These powerful frameworks were used to build a dynamic and responsive user interface. React helped us create interactive components, while Next.js provided server-side rendering for better performance and SEO optimization;
• Ant Design – We leveraged Ant Design to streamline the UI design process, ensuring a clean, user-friendly interface with pre-built components that enabled rapid development;

By combining these tools, we created a robust, high-performing firearms web portal in less than 3 months that met Gunsnation’s needs and provided users with an optimal online experience.

Team structure. The success of this firearms web design project belongs to the harmonized efforts of the client’s project manager, UI/UX designer, and our software specialists. Representing Fively, we contributed our senior front-end engineer and a highly experienced back-end engineer, who seamlessly integrated with the Gunsnation’s team.

Communication tools. Throughout the firearms web design development process, we maintained clear and effective communication with Gunsnation. The product owner, who was also a project manager, conducted daily meetings and sprint plenaries according to Scrum using Google Meet. There, we discussed progress, resolved any arising roadblocks, and aligned on the next steps.

For project tracking, GitHub was used to monitor deadlines and ensure that tasks were completed on time, maintaining an organized and smooth workflow throughout the project.
